Richard Daverel Hall…..July 25, 1982-July 20, 2004

Richard Daverel Hall was born on July 25, 1982 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.  Richard was the third addition to the Hall family.

As a youth, Richard was known throughout the neighnorhood as “Richie”.  He was the tough-nosed, no-nonsense, little kid, who was always very competitive in all that he did, but somehow he managed to have an aura, a charisma that gravitated people towards him.  Richard had many interests as a child, particularly playing video games, collecting basketball cards, and most importantly the sport of basketball.  He developed enduring friendships with “little” Brian, Gary, Harlan, Quanne and other neighborhood children.

Richard attened Trinity Lutheran during his nursery, elementary, and middle school years.  Of the many gifts Richard was blessed with, he used his athletic abilities to connect with others.  It was on the playground where he befriended another young child by the name of Rasheen J. Clarke.  The two were inseparable during their time together at Trinity Lutheran.

In the fall of 1997, Richard enrolled at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, NY.  Richard earned a Varsity letter that year as a starter on the varsity football team.  Despite his small stature or his limited experience, Richard still managed to catch the eye of recruiters from traditional national powers like Syracuse University and Michigan State University.  His early success in football never caused him to fall out of love for his greatest passion-basketball.

Midway through his junior year Richard transferred to Westbury High School.  Richard made an immediate impact on the basketball team.  He made the game winning shot in the county semi-finals leading his team to win the Nassau County Class B Championship.  The following season, he led Westbury HS to an undefeated regular season, capturing the highest power ranking in the county.  It was at this time, he was named All-County First Team and the Nassau County Class B MVP.

This however was not Richard’s greatest moment in his short time at Westbury HS.  It was also during this time that he met Iris Turcios, for whom he has dated for the past four years.

Throughout all his success on the basketball court Richard never really entertained the idea of playing college basketball.  All he wanted to do upon graduation was work with his dad.  As much as he loved being on the court, he loved being at his father’s auto repair shop even more.  He enrolled full time at Nassau Community College in the Fall of 2001 and at the same time began working part-time at the family business.  Richard was scheduled to graduate from NCC in December 2004 year with a degree in Liberal Arts.

Richard leaves behind his proud parents, Daverel and Marcia Hall, his older brother Brian, his older sister Kimberly, his younger sister Melanie, his beloved girlfriend Iris, his neice Peyton, his grandmothers, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loved him dearly.
